Seaton Brown for SGA President

Who Is Seaton Brown?

Seaton Brown is a junior pursuing a double-major in Business Administration and Hospitality & Tourism Management. Seaton grew up on St. Simons Island, a small island off the coast of Georgia. A graduate of Frederica Academy on St. Simons, Seaton was involved in many extracurricular activities. During High School Seaton became involved in several issues that fostered his interest in civic involvement and public service.

High School

Seaton's love of his island home encouraged him to become involved with the St. Simons Land Trust and their mission to protect and preserve the Island's green spaces. Through Seaton's leadership this interest ultimately evolved into a partnership between the Land Trust and Frederica Academy. A participant in the Model United Nations competition throughout High School, while doing research his sophomore year, Seaton came across an organization known as "ONE". Since that time Seaton has been an ardent supporter of the ONE Campaign.

College

It was on a College Tour with his Frederica classmates that Seaton discovered The College of Charleston. Confident that CofC was the perfect fit for him, he enrolled as a Freshman in the Fall of 2005. Since he arrived on campus, Seaton has been an active member of the Student Body. As a Freshman he was selected to participate in the Leadership Seminar. Sophomore year Seaton was elected as a SGA Senator and created and was named Chairman of the New Facilities Informational Committee. It was through this committee that he spearheaded the fight to stop the pile driving in the Fall 2006 Semester. In his junior year he was elected Vice-President of the SGA. Seaton was also elected to serve as a member of the Charleston 40 executive board. An active member of the Club of Hospitality and Tourism (CHAT), he has served as the Director of Activities. Seaton has also worked as a peer facilitator with Cougar Excursion. In 2007, Seaton was selected to participate in Leadership CofC.

In 2006, Seaton became involved in a successful effort to temporarily suspend pile driving on campus during final exams. The ONE campaign remained a priority with Seaton and in 2007, as he worked tirelessly to organize the College of Charleston as a ONE Campus. Seaton was actively involved in the organization of C of C's ONE Campaign and the Campus Challenge, where C of C consistently ranked in the top ten campuses nationally. C of C recognized this important effort and selected the ONE Campaign as the theme of Homecoming.

Seaton has worked in the Office of Tourism Analysis and is currently employed by the Office of Admissions.
